Really, if you want to compare the XXX to any disc, its flight is most similar to a Champ Viper or Whippet, but significantly faster. It is not a straight and fade discs. It has a positive HSS, meaning during the high speed part of the flight, it is still wanting to move in the direction of the fade. This makes it one of the best overhand discs for shear distance because it takes so much longer to make its full turn, but it also needs more room to turn.

BTW, I'm not trying to imply most forces are understable. I'm sure most are plenty stable. But there is a VERY wide spectrum with that disc, which makes it bad to make comparisons with.

thanks for the clarifications all!

lol that crazy Force. I wonder if it has something to do with the rim and the tendency for the mold to dry inconsistently with various amounts of dome?

Any reviews on the pop top Trident? The dome reminds me of the Core top (small diameter dome that doesn't go all the way out). I can't throw mine because of the weather, so I'm just curious if anyone tried it? I absolutely love the feel of this disc!!

My observations were the most overstable disc I've ever thrown.

If you put that side by side with a flat one I bet you'd see a significant height difference in the wing.

I have tried two tridents, a flat (first run) and a domey (very overstable). This third one (picture) doesn’t look exactly like the domey I had, which had a more “normal” dome. But I expect this one to be more like the second. I think the parting line is higher than on the flat, but I can't compare since I lost that one.

The XXX stole my heart before the Trident ever had a chance. Also, maybe I'm vain, but the Trident is just ugly to look at...It's like an old Volvo.

I don't know exactly why this ^ Volvo analogy works, but it is right on the money.

Luckily, LAT makes S90 looking discs as well

Yes, Banshee should be one of the closest discs to compare with Trident. Or perhaps Whippet. Banshee has a sharper edge and smaller diameter than Trident. And it's definitely faster.

I just love to compare profiles! …here is Trident vs. Banshee…

I really want to understand this disc. And since I can’t throw my latest Trident, I have to over-analyze its shape :D .If this disc on the image is like the usual domey ones it is very overstable. But which is the “true” or intended Trident?

I was thinking that the edge was supposed to have a 90 degree angle, which mine hasn’t. This one has an angle that suggests that the nose might have been tilted upwards, making it more overstable. Do the first runs have a 90 degree angle? (I lost mine so I can’t compare)

On the other hand, it has “+2,5 overstable” written at the stamp, which should mean that it is supposed to be very very very overstable. I wouldn’t describe the first run Trident as freaky overstable, sometimes I even managed to turn it over in the headwinds. It did have super fade though. Perhaps it's the domey ones that are +2,5 overstable, and what we will see in the future?

Any chance of a side by side pic of the first vs second run Tridents to add in the Lat. run-list? Jeronimo? ...or if someone else who has both could make a pic. That would be great!

i had 2 until i traded them resently a very flat 175 and a domey 170. the flat one I would give a HSS of -.5 and a LSS of 4 the domey one I would give a HSS 1 anda LSS 4. i have thrown others as well and the pattern seems to hold.
